World Vision wins global humanitarian awardThe World Association of Non-Governmental Organisations (WANGO) has given its 2009 Humanitarian Award to World Vision. The prestigious award recognises non-governmental organisations that demonstrate exceptional service, innovation, and excellence. “We cannot imagine a better candidate for the humanitarian award than World Vision,” said a statement from WANGO. “As an organisation devoted to providing for the poor and an organisation respected for exhibiting and promoting of the highest ethical standards, World Vision truly sets the bar for other non-governmental organisations.” Some of the past recipients of WANGO awards include Rotary International, Free the Children, Inuit Circumpolar Conference, Arias Foundation for Peace and Human Progress, Congress of Racial Equality and Bahrain Women’s Society. WANGO is one of the world’s largest international associations for non-governmental organisations with members in over 120 countries. The Humanitarian Award will be conferred at the 2009 Awards Ceremony at the World Congress of NGOs, taking place on Saturday, December 12, 2009 in Manila, Philippines. World Vision International President Kevin Jenkins will receive the award on World Vision’s behalf.
