Bala has given his family enough reason to be proud of him. He has just completed the first year of his B.Tech course.
Bala’s achievement is no mean feat considering the fact that he comes from a family where the men invariably earn their living as daily wage labourers. He is the first in his family to have completed his schooling.
Bala is all too aware of the fact that none of this would have been possible had it not been for the continued support of his sponsor. “I am doing my B.Tech today only because of my sponsor. My life has turned around because of the opportunity he gave me” says a grateful Bala.
Bala recalls the time when his father passed away and he felt he had to drop out of school to help his family make ends meet. “ But the thought that someone had come out of their way to help me, encouraged me to study,” says Bala.
Although the family was shattered by his father’s death, Bala’s sponsorship enabled him to continue his education uninterrupted.
Today because of the person he has never met, Bala has achieved something he could not have even dreamt of. Bala’s achievement has encouraged others in his slum to continue their education despite all odds.
