From a tender age, Puja's memories are scarred by nightmares of hopelessness, fear and uncertainty over the future.
"One night I woke up and saw a man sleeping next to me!"
"Police often came, frisked our belongings and harassed us. There were brawls and fights. Sometimes drunken men fell on us."
"One day I saw a man take a girl from our street. That girl was a little older than me. And she never came back. I was scared that one day I too would be taken away"
These scary occurrences would have continued in her life. But fortunately she was rescued by World Vision. Today, through the support of someone like you, Puja is in school and works hard to achieve her dream of becoming a doctor some day. "I wish every child has a chance to be in school" she says.
While Puja is fortunate to have found her support to help her scale new heights, there are thousands of children who are deprived of even basic requirements such as education, food, healthcare and shelter and are victims of abuse and trafficking.
On behalf of Pujas in our communities, let me invite you to lend your helping hand and reach out to those children who live on the streets.
