Saranya's birth was a joyful event in her family. Her parents and two brothers welcomed her with delight.

The proud parents promised to give their best to provide their children a bright future. But that dream was short lived with the untimely death of Saranya's father.

Her mother worked as a daily wage laborer and did all that she could to keep her children alive.

But life dealt her a severe blow, when, at the age of three, she fell sick and had an attack of polio. Saranya was confined to her home for the next three years.

All those years, she longed to be in school. Sensing her desire to learn, her mother admitted her in a school. Just when Saranya thought that life was getting better, tragedy struck again when she lost her mother at the age of 12.

But fortunately, through a compassionate person who came forward to sponsor her, her life turned around.

Today, through sponsorship, Saranya has access to nutritious food, clothing and education. Child Sponsorship also ensures corrective surgery and physiotherapy for sponsored children in need.

Saranya is a good example that your support truly changes lives. Today, she's in Class VIII and tops her class. "I like maths," she says with an air of confidence.
