Preventing the Preventable

Holding in her hands the only photo of her daughter that she has, Nirmala Patra recalls with grief how malaria killed her daughter, simply because there was no proper hospital near the village. It was a usual Friday morning. Nirmala’s 3-year old daughter Mohini was down with a high temperature.

The adult literacy class conducted in one of the target villages of world vision’s Jeevan Asha project is truly one of a kind. The classes are conducted by the children in the village in an effort to teach the women basic literacy skills. Nearly 18 women take part in these classes.
