Starting with 9 villages, World Vision now works among 30 villages of Melghat, with the goal Transforming lives from Poverty to Prosperity. Melghat is a picturesque hill station in the Amravati district, famed for its lush green teak forests. But behind the facade of this apparent natural beauty, serious problems lay behind.

Melghat caught the nation's attention a few years ago for malnutrition deaths among children. Owing to annual monsoons, diseases like malaria, cholera and diarrhea abound. World Vision provides access to primary health care and nutritional supplements to malnourished children. We also provide micro irrigation facilities, vocational training, roofing material and revolving loans to the people of this community.
