We work closely with community-based organisations, government bodies, NGOs and civil society groups to provide holistic support. We also partner with local, state and central governments, as well as academic institutions and other NGOs, to strengthen policies, structures and systems.
Additionally, we respond to natural disasters. For example, we provided critical support to children and families affected by Cyclone Michaung. Our involvement in disaster response dates to the 1977 cyclone in Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

What happens if my sponsored child moves away?

If your sponsored child or their family moves away, we will let you know and discontinue that sponsorship. You’ll then be matched with another child in need, so your support can continue making a difference.

What is Child Sponsorship?

Child Sponsorship is a commitment you make as a sponsor to support not only a child but also their family and community, in partnership with World Vision India. The goal is to ensure the child’s well-being even after our work in that area comes to an end. It’s more than a relationship with just one child – it's an investment in their entire community. This partnership helps create a better future for the child and helps make India a safer and more nurturing place for all children.

Can I visit my sponsored child?

Yes, you’re welcome to visit your sponsored child and their family. A visit helps you see the difference your support has made. We recommend waiting for at least six months to build a rapport with your sponsored child before planning a visit.
Please email us at  indiasponsors@wvi.org  at least 10 days in advance. Visits are scheduled on weekdays, excluding weekends and national holidays. You’ll also need to read our Child Protection Policy. Please avoid geotagging your sponsored child’s location during the visit.

Can I write to my sponsored child?

Absolutely! We encourage you to write to your child to get to know them and their family better. If your child is too young to write, a staff member or helper will assist them.

What if my sponsored child contacts me through social media?

For safety reasons, we advise against direct contact with your sponsored child through social media like Facebook or Twitter. This helps protect both you and the child. We encourage all communication to go through official World Vision India channels. Please do not visit your sponsored child without prior arrangement through us, and do not share their personal details or location online. If your child or their family contacts you directly, please report it to us at indiasponsors@wvi.org

How can I be sure my money is used properly?

World Vision India is committed to transparency and accountability. Our programmes are regularly monitored and evaluated. Our finances are regularly audited at multiple levels, including local project audits, annual statutory audits by reputed firms, and internal audits conducted by our Regional Internal Audit Team.
We follow stringent internal controls to ensure compliance to all applicable laws and provide frequent updates to our supporters.

How do I send my sponsorship contribution?

You can contribute monthly (₹ 1,000), quarterly (₹ 3,000), half-yearly (₹ 6,000) or annually (₹ 12,000). Payments can be made by cheque, demand draft, UPI or online. For monthly donations, you can use post-dated cheques or set up automatic debit card payments. Please do not send cash or postal orders by mail.

Is my contribution tax-exempt?

Yes. All contributions to World Vision India are eligible for 50% tax deduction under Section 80-G of the Income Tax Act.

What if I can't continue my sponsorship?

We understand that circumstances change. If you need to stop your sponsorship, let us know. We will find another sponsor for your child and ensure the community project continues as planned.

Can I send extra gifts to my sponsored child?

Accepted Answer

Yes, extra gifts for birthdays, education or medical needs are welcome. To keep administrative costs manageable, we suggest a minimum gift of ₹ 500. You can add this to your regular sponsorship contribution.

How do I get receipts for my contributions?

Accepted Answer

Log in to your account and go to the ‘My Giving’ section under ‘My World’ to download tax receipts. To receive your 10BE tax exemption certificate, make sure your PAN or Aadhaar details and full name (as per government records) are updated in your profile.

What does ‘Paid up to date’ mean?

It refers to the month and year up to which your contributions have been credited to your sponsored child’s support. The ‘Sponsorship History'.

How long can I sponsor a child?

You can sponsor a child for up to 10 years or until the child completes basic education. The sponsorship usually continues until the child reaches their teenage years or until our programme in the area concludes.

Do I get updates about my sponsored child and their community?

Yes. When you begin sponsoring, you’ll receive a welcome kit with your child’s photo, personal details, and information about their community. Within a few months, you’ll receive an introductory letter from your sponsored child.
Each year, you’ll receive an annual progress report on your sponsored child and their community, along with a greeting card and community newsletter. If you write to your child, they’ll also write back.

In many cases, families have lost one parent, face disabilities, or have been abandoned. Others are simply too poor to meet their children’s basic needs. Supporting such families gives children a chance to grow up in a loving home environment.
