Water, Hygiene and Sanitation (WASH)

World Vision India uses a range of key approaches, based on global best practices and technical expertise to promote good hygiene and sanitation practices, community-based WASH solutions in schools, in emergencies and in urban communities.

World Vision’s integrated and community-based approach to WASH has a peer driven focus for empowering communities to be agents of change. In select projects,World Vision India tests all water points in the area for contamination. Once water contamination has been identified, World Vision provides technical guidance as communities themselves develop solutions in order to have access to clean water.  World Vision has also worked with the community to develop ideas for providing gender friendly twin pit pour flush and bio-san environment friendly toilets for malnourished children and children with disabilities in schools and in their households. World Vision also links with local government authorities to provide sanitation to selected households using the champion family positive deviant approach.
