Through the generous contributions of partners like you, we have been able to rush immediate emergency relief in the form of dry ration and non-food items to 11,393 families in Malapuram, Wayanad, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Palakkad.

We plan to provide emergency relief to 10,000 more families in Idukki, Kottayam/Allepey (Kuttanad) and Wayanad.

As many families return to their damaged houses, they are faced with an uncertain future. The loss of millions of hectares of crops and small businesses and shops means many of them will not have a source of livelihood for many months to come.

Our staff are on the ground conducting detailed assessment of the damage to plan our work during the recovery and rehabilitation work.

World Vision India will work with the affected communities in helping them rebuild their houses and livelihoods. Our recovery efforts will also involve rebuilding school infrastructure in the affected areas so that children continue their learning.

World Vision India will continue to work with children, families and communities in Kerala, providing relief and recovery assistance for the next few months.

Join us in rebuilding the lives of children and families in Kerala.

First-in, last-out approach

Whenever disaster strikes, natural or man-made, World Vision India generally follows the first-in and last-out approach. Our rapid response team reaches the ground within 24 hours the disaster strikes. Our work begins by assessing the extent of the damage and providing immediate emergency relief. For the first few weeks, we continuously distribute emergency aid and relief to residents affected by the disaster.

Over the following months, we help families stabilize by providing non-food items and livelihood support. We set up child-friendly spaces to provide children with a caring and safe environment.

Our staff remain with the communities until the families have recovered and are ready/able to start life again.

Our Response Team caters to the immediate needs of the affected population and adheres to the industry standards. Camps and the beneficiaries are identified on the basis of need alone.
